Ashwagandha for Sexual Wellness for MenPublished Date : 06-Jan-2023
Since the period of the Kama Sutra, Ashwagandha has had a reputation for improving sexual wellness for men. Ashwagandha, also called "Indian ginseng," is a versatile herb used in Ayurvedic medicine. It is said to be good for men's health in several ways, such as:
- Increasing testosterone levels
- Enhancing sexual desire/Impulse
- Increasing sperm count & motility
- Improving erectile dysfunction
The shrubby evergreen known as ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is widely distributed throughout India. For centuries, people have relied on it as a kind of alternative medicine. Ashwagandha, which literally translates to "horse smell," is so named for the aroma of the plant's root.
Ashwagandha Benefits for Men
In Ayurveda, ashwagandha is considered a "Rasayana," or tonic, and is utilized for overall regeneration. The purpose of taking a rasayana is to promote a healthy and vibrant state of youth in both your body and mind. Ashwagandha is a herb that has been used for centuries due to its various purported health advantages. In sexual wellness for men Ashwagandha benefits are:
1. Lowers Stress
Stress is a common cause of a loss of sex drive and poor sexual performance. The Ashwagandha plant can help reduce stress, which is a good place to start. High stress levels are associated with elevated blood pressure. High blood pressure is one of the primary causes of impotence because it narrows the arteries and reduces blood flow throughout the body.
Ashwagandha helps our bodies adapt to stress by fortifying the adrenal glands and enhancing our "fight or flight" responses. Cortisol is made in our bodies by the adrenal glands. When things get tough at work or at home, this makes us feel stressed.
2. Better sex drive
The historical record is clear: Ashwagandha is an aphrodisiac. The herb is one of the highly potent sexual stimulants mentioned in the renowned 'Kama Sutra. Ashwagandha, in particular, is a popular addition to herbal aphrodisiacs.
Nitric oxide generation is increased in males who take ashwagandha. This causes dilation of the arteries supplying the genitalia. This increases both sexual desire and satisfaction. Currently, research studies suggest the same thing. Ashwagandha has emerged as a popular therapy for libido loss and even erectile dysfunction.
3. High testosterone
A study in the journal Fertility and Sterility found that taking Ashwagandha dramatically increased participants' testosterone levels. Once males reach the age of 30, their testosterone levels begin to decline at a rate of 0.2 to 0.4 percent annually. And this may manifest itself via things like thinning hair, a decreased endurance for bed, and a wearing down of muscular mass. In addition to boosting testosterone production, ashwagandha has also been shown to increase blood levels of luteinizing hormone.
4. High sperm count
Ashwagandha is known to make men's libidos better, so it makes sense that their sperm count would go up. The same thing was shown by one study. During that time, ashwagandha supplements were given to a group of men for 90 days. During the same 90 days, another group of men got a placebo. After the trial, the results showed that the sperm count of the men who took the ashwagandha supplements went up by a whopping 167%.
5. Better endurance
Ashwagandha has been shown to improve one's physical performance in addition to other elements that are directly associated to sexual wellness for men. In order to determine the effects of ashwagandha on sexual wellness for men, a research was performed. The participants were split into two groups; one received the plant supplements, while the other did not. Results showed that those who took ashwagandha pills had about twice the endurance of the control group during physical activity. The calming and anti-inflammatory effects of ashwagandha were the likely causes.
